The Laser Cleanroom Laboratory Operator will be responsible for maintaining a contamination‑controlled environment for laser‑based operations. This role combines laser laboratory technical work with cleanroom operations to ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of laser component boards, and associated systems. Following detailed shop processes and assembly instructions by working closely with the engineering staff involved.
What You Will Do- Perform underfill preparation and dispensing, oven curing, IPA testing and final cosmetic/mechanical inspection of completed assemblies
- Manage readiness of CP and underfill materials, ensuring proper expiration compliance. Also, prepare syringe tips and tooling for dispenser setup, confirming the correct tools, sizes, and settings are used.
- Carry out the full laser‑processing workflow substrates, including initial setup, ablation, and inspection.
- Execute manhole cover ablation and removal, followed by pad cleaning and preparation for sputter processing.
- Perform cleanup ablation, test pad ablation, and detailed visual inspections to verify that drill and fill quality meet engineering requirements.
- Execute the two‑pass CP fill process, including plasma cleaning, CP application, vacuum‑assisted fill, planarization, curing, and final verification.
- Manage part flow between laser, vacuum chamber, oven, and sputter operations, maintaining documentation, traceability, and serial number control.
- Work closely with engineers to address and resolve any issues that occur.
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience operating laser‑based manufacturing, ablation, or micromachining equipment
- Prior cleanroom experience in semiconductor, microelectronics, or precision‑assembly environments
- U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Familiarity with plasma cleaning, underfill dispensing systems, and vacuum‑assisted fill processes
- Ability to read and interpret detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and process documentation
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated capability in fine‑feature visual inspection under microscopes
- Experience with part traceability systems, serialized hardware, or manufacturing execution systems (MES)
