About the RoleCook 12pm-8pm/4 on-2 off at McKinney, TX. This role involves preparing food in accordance with standard menus, prescriptions, dietary and sanitary regulations; following recipes; ensuring proper storage of food and supplies; supervising serving of meals by wait staff; directing and assisting in cleaning work areas, equipment, and floors; ensuring all residents have received meals; and following fire and safety practices.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to superior clinical care, rehabilitation, wellness, and supportive services for residents.
Job Responsibilities- Understand and follow guidelines for safe food handling and storage.
- Complete the daily Quick Check departmental review when required.
- Test and record temperatures of hot and cold foods; correct negative results.
- Properly discard expired or contaminated food.
- Perform hand washing, glove wearing, and hair restraint protocols.
- Comply with infection control and universal precaution policies.
- Follow methods to control cross-contamination.
- Prepare foods using standardized recipes and production worksheets.
- Ensure foods are served within meal hours and maintain quality, temperature, and appearance.
- Serve meals following facility methods and portion control guidelines.
- Cleanup and sanitize kitchen, equipment, and storage areas daily and as scheduled.
- Assist other department staff as needed to ensure timely production.
- Close the kitchen in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain overall departmental function and compliance in the absence of the Nutrition Services Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One year experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, hospital, or similar institution is preferred.
- Food handlers’ card required, or Food Safety Certification as required by local ordinance.
- Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
- Good communication skills with co‑workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
