Security Monitor / Patrol 4pm - 12am

Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE

Ensure a high degree of safety and security for McKinney ISD students, staff, visitors, and property.

Essential Functions MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Monitor district video surveillance system and maintain recorded log of camera activity
  • Ensure schools are properly and adequately secured by conducting facility checks and monitoring the district
  • Report damage, unlocked doors or windows, and/or any unusual incidents at the facilities
  • When needed, secure buildings to prevent entry
  • Log, maintain, and track data pertaining to the operation of all district life safety systems
  • Communicate all logged activity to the Director of Safety & Security
  • Monitor, log and make appropriate notifications regarding any life safety systems issues or notifications made to the monitoring station regarding any emergencies via phone, in person or radio communications
  • Monitor all fire alarm activity and report any activity, which could result in danger to students, staff, and buildings
  • Monitor and open and close buildings for any scheduled after hour's activities
  • Stop and or report any activity that is a security risk
  • Make written reports of security violations
  • Communicate and follow-up with campus staff on any request for assistance
  • Assist camera technicians on resolving camera positioning and focusing issues
  • Monitor two-way radio emergency channels and serve as primary point of emergency contact and district central communications hub
  • Maintain and clean district vehicle daily
  • Maintain professional standards of conduct
  • Practice high standards of safety in the performance of all duties
  • Manage emergency situations as they occur
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor within the line of authority

WORKING CONDITIONS

Equipment Used:
Two-way radio communications system, camera monitors, video software management systems, intrusion alarm systems, building access control systems, standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Software Used:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Win Ocular and Munis).

Posture:
Continual standing, sitting, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Motion:
Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; prolonged use of computers; exposure to computer emissions.

Lifting:
Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 44 pounds).

Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours; prolonged use of computer; exposure to computer emissions.

Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; read, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to operate and learn new technology systems; ability to work under stress independently, under pressure of deadlines, and in shared office space.

Other:
Work as a team member and with peers, teachers, campus personnel, principals and public; professional demeanor, and resourcefulness, communicate effectively with diverse groups and accept supervision; work without day-to-day supervision; regular and punctual attendance in the workplace.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations.

Requirements

Education / Certification:
High School Diploma or GED equivalency;
Some college education preferred.

Special Knowledge and

Skills:

Possess a valid Texas driver license, proving insurability with the district insurance carrier;
Ability to read and understand written instructions;
Ability to communicate (verbally);
Ability to interact with people;
Demonstrate ability to recognize problems and execute corrective actions;
Knowledge of security equipment;
Knowledge of security procedures.
