Diesel Mechanic Technician Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in McKinney, Texas.
Position DescriptionWe want the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join us at Ryder to work on Heavy Duty Vehicles.
Hourly Pay & Bonuses- Hourly Pay: $25.92 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF - Hours:
First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certifications, or post‑secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, required
- Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check, including drug and alcohol verification of the last 3 years
Some positions require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you will be assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required, which could include service island support
