Our approach focuses on academic growth, confidence-building, and individualized instruction based on each learner’s needs, goals, pace, and strengths. We provide support in core academic subjects, reading and math intervention, test preparation, language learning, homework assistance, executive functioning, and academic enrichment.

At WeMind, we value collaboration and flexibility. Tutors are supported with curriculum guidance, lesson-planning resources, and materials when needed, while still having the freedom to use their own teaching style and professional judgment.

WeMind Academy of Learning is hiring
part-time tutors throughout the DMV area
, including Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Tutors work directly with students in their homes, local libraries, or other agreed-upon learning locations. Online opportunities may also be available depending on student needs.

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing individualized or small-group academic instruction
• Supporting students in math, reading, writing, ELA, science, languages, test preparation, or other academic areas
• Preparing engaging and age-appropriate lessons
• Assisting with homework and school assignments when applicable
• Monitoring student progress and communicating relevant updates
• Adapting instruction to different learning styles, strengths, and areas of need
• Helping students build confidence, independence, and strong academic habits
• Collaborating with the WeMind team regarding curriculum, lesson planning, student goals, and materials

• Strong knowledge of one or more academic subject areas
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction to individual learners
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Reliable, professional, and comfortable working independently with families
• Ability to create or adapt lesson plans based on student needs
• Experience working with children, teens, college students, or adult learners
• Tutoring, teaching, classroom, intervention, or related educational experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, or current enrollment in a relevant college program, preferred
• Teaching certification or specialized training such as
  Orton-Gillingham, UFLI, DIBELS, Wilson, LETRS, structured literacy, special education, advanced math, or test preparation
  is a plus
• Experience with ESL, Spanish, French, or other language instruction is also welcomed
• Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and educational technology is beneficial
