MITRE’s End-to-End Systems Engineering Department is looking for systems engineers with an interest in advancing and applying innovative systems engineering techniques to help solve some of our nation's most critical challenges in delivering services to citizens throughout defense and intelligence, aviation, homeland security, the judiciary, healthcare, and cybersecurity domains. We are looking for highly-motivated, adaptive, and self-directed candidates with a solid systems engineering foundation in or a motivation to build technical skills supporting the development and deployment of nationally important solutions through Systems Requirements and Architecture, System-of-Systems, Mission Engineering, Systems Thinking and Model-Based Systems Engineering practices.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesAs an Associate Digital Engineer, you will leverage and grow your systems engineering expertise to provide support through the design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and system-of-systems for federal agencies. Specific responsibilities may include:
- Apply cutting edge methods and tools (such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Analytics) to assess and analyze system and system of systems capability needs, requirements, architectures, designs, performance constraints and gaps, proposed changes, and verification and test approaches
- Supporting teams in advising government leaders in defining the context, problem space and vision to determine capabilities, priorities, road maps, and technology needs using modern system engineering approaches.
- Supporting requirements management and analysis, interface management, architecture development and test and evaluation processes.
- Independently conducting qualitative and quantitative systems engineering analyses that can be translated into actionable recommendations for federal agencies.
- Participating in internal and external research opportunities in cutting edge engineering fields.
- Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer, computer science, physics, mathematics or related technical discipline or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Understanding of systems engineering processes and tools
- Relevant work or internship experience working systems, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering projects, or related technical project work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong critical thinking skills.
- Able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. Citizenship.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
