The Mission Critical Telecommunications Engineer Leader 1 (EL1) is responsible for leading the design, coordination, and execution of complex telecommunications and infrastructure engineering solutions for high-density, Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven data centers. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership and mentoring capabilities to ensure the delivery of world-class, resilient, and scalable systems that support high density AI facilities and mission‑critical operations.
The Engineering Leader will guide cross‑functional engineering teams, ensure adherence to best practices, and drive innovation in structured cabling, active low voltage systems, and integrated infrastructure. This position requires a strategic thinker with hands‑on experience in data center environments, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the engineering lifecycle for mission‑critical AI data center projects, from concept through commissioning.
- Validate and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, constructible engineering solutions across telecommunications systems.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across disciplines (Networking, AV, Security, MEP, Architecture) to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Manage technical risk, resolve complex engineering challenges, and ensure compliance with industry standards (TIA, NFPA, BICSI).
- Drive the development of engineering deliverables including design drawing packages, project schedules, cable run‑lists, test plans, and quality control documentation.
- Lead technical discussions with clients, project leadership, and field teams to align on requirements and proactively address potential challenges before they impact project outcomes.
- Manage the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project technical solutions.
- Champion engineering best practices, process improvements, and innovation in support of AI infrastructure scalability and reliability.
- Ensure safety, quality, and compliance throughout the engineering and construction process.
- Identify, recommend, and implement work process improvements.
- Review technical project details with clients and project leadership.
- Maintain a positive, assertive relationship with project engineers to achieve project milestones and overall project success.
Education /Experience
Required:
- A Bachelor's in Engineering with a minimum of 7+ years of experience or Master's Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Physics preferably from an ABET accredited program.
- 7+ years of experience in any Engineering discipline with Construction experience, including at least 3+ years in mission‑critical or data center environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex technical projects.
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and active systems (e.g., DAS, PA, emergency phones).
- Familiarity with TIA standards, NFPA codes, and BICSI standard.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and engineering documentation tools.
