We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in McLean, VA. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees, with a strong command of Deltek Costpoint and a working knowledge of ADP systems. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Importing semi-monthly timesheets via electronic Time and Expense system into Deltek Costpoint Accounting system.
Process bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now for approximately 500 employees in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax with holdings
Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data
Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and year-end reporting, including W-2 and 941 filings
Support ADP-related tasks as needed, such as benefits integration or reporting
Stay current on payroll best practices and relevant labor laws
2–4 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a government contracting environment
Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint is required
Familiarity with ADP platforms (such as Workforce Now or Run) is a plus
Knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws
Strong Excel skills and general proficiency with MS Office Suite
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
Experience supporting payroll for cleared personnel or within the defense contracting industry
Knowledge of fringe benefits, DCAA compliance, and labor category structures
Work Environment:
In-office work may be required based on operational needs but flexibility on some hybrid work after initial training period.
