The Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) seeks a Senior Government Contracting Subject Matter Expert to support curriculum development, course modernization, and technical writing for federal acquisition training. This role requires a previously held Contracting Officer warrant , 10+ years of recent or active federal contracting experience (15 preferred) and experience writing curriculum, policy or analyzing policy to align with SOPs or curriculum .
Rate: $50-55 per hour
ResponsibilitiesProvide senior-level acquisition expertise for course development and updates.
Review and validate training content, storyboards, scripts, and eLearning materials.
Deliver annotated SME feedback and participate in audits and course review sessions.
Translate FAR/DFARS requirements into clear, instruction-ready training content including RFO, EO and other applicable policy changes.
Support strategic learning analysis and policy-aligned recommendations.
Requirements10+ years federal contracting experience (15 preferred).
Previously held Contracting Officer warrant.
Expert knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and agency supplements.
Experience with curriculum development or acquisition training.
Strong technical writing skills.
Ability to work independently or in a teamwork environment in a 1099 part-time, surge capacity.
Daytime, after hours and weekend flexibility is required.
Your own computer, internet access, and authoring tools are required.
PreferredExperience with FAI, WarU (DAU), FAC-C/FAC-COR/FAC-P/PM training.
Familiarity with ADDIE/SAM models and 508/SCORM requirements.
