Position SummaryThe position is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with care teams as needed. The position will provide pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and request and review any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members, care givers, external medical providers to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process.
Relationships and ContactsWithin the organization:
Initiates and maintains frequent and close working relationships with staff, clients, families, facility, and peers throughout the organization.
Outside the organization:
Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.
- Conducts all Psychiatric Evaluations and ensures medical necessity for all individuals enrolled in the PHP.
- Provides medication management services for individuals enrolled in PHP as needed. Available on-site.
- Provides consultation, education and related information to patients and the families, if involved, to increase success of treatment and program engagement.
- Directs and collaborates with staff on clinical activities and interventions.
- Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner as needed to meet clinical, payer and other requirements.
- Perform other activities as requested by the Director and assume other appropriate medical responsibilities as necessary.
PMHNP
Experience:
- Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
- Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
- Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus.
- Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity.
Education:
Licensed to practice in the State of Virginia – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner. Possesses working knowledge of psychotherapy, psychopathology, diagnostic assessment and related treatment interventions.
