How You’ll Make An Impact

As a Security Engineer, you will strengthen our defenses through technical expertise. You will be a key owner of critical security platforms, ensuring they are optimally configured, maintained, and effectively utilized to protect our clients’s assets. Your work in identifying system vulnerabilities, engineering scalable remediation strategies, and automating fixes will directly reduce the organization’s attack surface.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot core security platforms to ensure they are functioning effectively and aligned with security policies.
  • Process escalated or complex requests from the Security Analyst team regarding security tools, including global exclusions, user access management, and changes requiring engineer‑level permissions.
  • Perform regular reviews and audits of security tool configurations (e.g., quarterly settings reviews) to identify misconfigurations and resolve alerts.
  • Analyze systems and applications to investigate identified vulnerabilities, understand potential impact, and determine root causes.
  • Work with clients to address vulnerabilities in their environments and ensure they are well protected.
  • Create, test, and maintain scripts (using Power Shell, Bash, etc.) to automate tasks related to vulnerability management and security alert handling.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow analysts and engineers, sharing information and contributing to a collaborative security environment.
  • Handle escalated tickets and coach junior analysts on next steps.
  • Communicate professionally with end‑users, clients, and other departments to coordinate responses and share information.
  • Maintain accurate records of investigations, actions, and communications within Connect Wise.
  • Provide timely and helpful support related to security inquiries and uphold a customer‑service‑oriented approach.
Required Knowledge And Experience
  • 2–4 years of IT experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Cybersecurity, implementing, configuring, tuning, maintaining, and managing cybersecurity technologies.
  • Experience with security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability testing tools and techniques.
  • Foundational background in networking, operating systems, databases, cloud environments, and/or architecture.
You’ll be successful in this role if you have
  • 2–3 years of experience in Information Technology.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Information Security.
  • Technical expertise in core security domains, including vulnerability management and security tool administration.
  • Solid understanding and practical application of the Vulnerability Management lifecycle, CVSS scoring, CVEs, remediation, and patching processes.
  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets (e.g., vulnerability data, logs) to identify patterns and inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong passion for efficiency with robust scripting skills (Power Shell, Bash, etc.) used to design, implement, and maintain automation for security tasks.
  • Analytical and complex problem‑solving capabilities for diagnosing and resolving intricate technical issues within security tools and systems.
  • Strategic mindset for assessing risks and prioritizing actions effectively across diverse environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaborator able to work effectively within the security team and liaise with other departments.
  • Highly organized with excellent time‑management skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, proactively researching new technologies, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
  • Strong enthusiasm for adapting to evolving technology trends and industry advancements.
  • Passion for delivering outstanding customer service to internal stakeholders or clients.
