Business Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a mission-oriented Business Analyst with a strong background in technology systems to support digital transformation and modernization efforts within the defense sector. This role bridges the gap between operational needs and technical solutions, ensuring that defense technologies are aligned with mission objectives, cybersecurity standards, and evolving threats.

• Analyze and document business and technical requirements for defense IT systems, including C4
  
  ISR, cybersecurity, cloud, and AI/ML platforms.
• Collaborate with defense program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with system architects, developers, and program managers to translate mission needs into system capabilities.
• Evaluate current defense technology infrastructures and recommend enhancements or replacements.
• Support the development of system roadmaps, capability gap analyses, and technology insertion plans.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and technical reviews to gather and validate requirements.
• Develop use cases, process flows, and data models to support system design and integration.
• Ensure compliance with DoD IT policies, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800‑53), and acquisition guidelines.
• Assist in testing, validation, and deployment of new technologies and digital tools.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and briefings to align business goals with defense objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a defense or federal IT environment.
• Familiarity with DoD IT systems, enterprise architecture, and digital modernization initiatives.
• Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Power BI, or similar.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a [Secret / Top Secret] security clearance.

• Experience with Agile, Dev Sec Ops , or SAFe methodologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS Gov Cloud, Azure Government) and data analytics.
• Certifications such as CBAP, CompTIA Security+, or PMP.
• Experience working with defense contractors, integrators, or federal agencies.
