Mission Strategy Consultant

Valence serves as a strategic consulting partner for impact-driven clients. Our team has a proven track record of solving complex national security problems, enabling our consultants to deliver high-impact solutions to mission critical customers. Valence applies a range of commercial and US Government best practices to provide mission enablement services that can serve either side of the Public-Private spectrum. Our team facilitates emerging technology adoption and mission delivery between all stakeholders in the defense innovation ecosystem.

What you'll work on:Valence mission consultants serve as client-facing team members for premier national security programs. You will support senior members of the US Defense and Intelligence Community on some of their highest priority problem sets and operations. Typically, you’ll work on teams of government employees and fellow consultants, each with varying types of operational expertise (e.g., strategy, operations, targeting, finance, program management, etc.).

What you'll do:Members of our mission strategy team are focused on one thing - improving the operational success of US national security organizations. Our positions provide the opportunity for you to directly impact your team's success by capitalizing on your previous experience, while also allowing you to grow into new areas of mission support. You will be assigned a specific role on your team (i.e. Project Manager, Ops Manager, Business Analyst), but encouraged to provide tailor‑made process improvement approaches, performance measurement, mission analysis, data visualization products, and strategic recommendations.

We will ask you to gain a holistic understanding of your organization’s challenges and will assist you with providing tactical solutions that improve the effectiveness of the intelligence mission.

What you have:

• 3+ years of experience supporting the Intelligence Community or in a similar professional environment (may include internship experience, depending on the role)
• Record of professional and/or academic achievement
• Demonstrated aptitude for analysis (quantitative or qualitative) and problem‑solving
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both in writing and through briefings
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage projects and communications through completion
• High degree of personal integrity and core values
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

What else makes you a strong candidate:

• Proven record of leadership at work or through extracurricular activities
• Experience in an operational role within the Intelligence Community or other relevant organizations
• Understanding of emerging and defense technology
• Knowledge of and certifications in project management, Scrum, or other commercial management methodologies
• Master's degree in Public Policy, Government, International Studies, Data Science, Finance, Business, IT, Computer Science, Communications, or other STEM majors
