Chief Product Manager, Prototyping
The Opportunity:
Booz Allen is seeking a Product Manager to enable and grow a rapid development capability. As a Product Manager focusing on advancing ideas from 0 to 1, you will play a critical role in shaping the capabilities which define the future of our product portfolio across a range of technologies, including Cybersecurity, Compliance, Edge, Autonomy, Quantum, AI, and Data. You will be responsible for incubating product strategies, gathering customer requirements, and working closely with cross‑functional teams to bring innovative and disruptive ideas to a point where an investment decision can be made.
Your work will involve close collaboration with engineering, business development, and external stakeholders to ensure the outcomes meet customer needs. This role requires a deep discernible ability to deliver at speed, iterate with purpose, and achieve validation to move on to the next thing.
- Promote a mindset of embracing experimentation, fast failures, and data‑driven iteration across the product team and the broader organization.
- Strategically choose the appropriate level of prototype fidelity—such as paper sketches, clickable wireframes, functional MVPs, and physical mockups—to answer critical questions at hand while balancing speed and necessary detail.
- Proficiently use low‑fidelity and high‑fidelity prototyping tools, such as Figma, InVision, or AI and no‑code platforms to quickly bring concepts to life.
- Develop hypotheses and structured testing plans for prototypes to gather actionable feedback on usability, desirability, and core functionality.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and engineers to ensure prototypes consider user experience and technical feasibility, or to define required technological leaps.
- Lead or actively participate in user interviews, usability testing, and co‑creation sessions with customers to get prototypes into their hands early and often.
- Analyze user data—qualitative and quantitative—to determine which concepts to pivot, iterate on, or discard.
- Focus prototypes on solving the most critical user problems and validating the riskiest assumptions before significant development investment.
- Translate validated prototypes and testing learnings directly into prioritized features, user stories, and requirements for the official development backlog.
- Instantly cut features and complexity to answer the core validation question with a Minimal Viable Test (MVP).
- 10+ years of experience in technology product management.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, ideation, and advancing capabilities from 0 to 1.
- Ability to manage the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond.
- Ability to thrive in fast‑moving startup environments and effectively lead change.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business.
- Experience working across a variety of software and hardware technologies.
- Experience designing focused experiments to validate key product hypotheses.
- Experience with tools used to create rapid, interactive mockups and prototypes, such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, or specialized no‑code and AI builders.
- Experience with pricing and packaging of hardware and software products.
- Knowledge of the underlying technology stack—software, hardware, or AI—to quickly assess technical feasibility and cost.
- Ability to define success metrics for a prototype, such as “This prototype aims to increase user intent‑to‑purchase by 10%.”
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
