Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Credit Line Increase Program

Senior Associate Data Scientist role focused on building, deploying, and governing machine learning valuations models for Discover Customer Management programs.

• Collaborate with a cross-functional group of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver analytics-driven customer experiences
• Use a broad technology stack, including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark
  , and more, to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data
• Develop machine learning models across the full lifecycle:
  design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
• Translate model complexity into tangible business goals using strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining (with degree expected on or before the scheduled start date):
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) and 2 years of experience performing data analytics
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining (with degree expected on or before the scheduled start date):
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related), or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

• Model development team building valuations models for Discover Customer Management programs
• Near-term focus: support Discover integration by fully owning valuations covering model development, deployment, and governance
• Longer-term scope: expand model capabilities and methodologies,
  monitor performance
  , and manage ongoing stakeholder needs
• Partner with the credit program to define model design for destination usage and enable business policies backed by valuations

• Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, Scala, R, SQL

• Master’s in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or PhD in a STEM field
• Experience working with AWS
• At least 2 years experience with Python, Scala, or R
• At least 2 years experience with machine learning
• At least 2 years experience with SQL
