In 2025, Springboard celebrated its 25th anniversary and appointed Umbreen Bhatti as its new CEO. The Vice President, Communications will shape the organization’s story and lead communication to founders, alumnae, investors, partners, and champions of women’s entrepreneurship.
This full‑time, remote U.S.–based position operates on Eastern Standard Time, requires stationary work during regular hours, and expects up to 20% travel for important events.
What you’ll do- Lead the refresh of the Springboard story – define how our purpose and impact are communicated in our next chapter.
- Enable clear and confident representation of Springboard.
- Build and manage a high‑impact, collaborative Communications function.
- Craft a clear, distinctive brand identity and voice that reflects both Springboard’s legacy and its next chapter.
- Spearhead a comprehensive redesign of Springboard’s communications materials and ecosystem, including messaging, website, and core collateral.
- Produce top‑tier storytelling that uplifts Springboard and our alumnae founders through op‑eds, announcements, reports, and website content, and experiment with new storytelling formats and platforms.
- Develop and execute a thought‑leadership program positioning Springboard as a trusted voice in its industry.
- Draft and verify senior leadership communications, including CEO talking points, press toolkits, messaging frameworks, and interview insights.
- Enhance stakeholders’ abilities to represent Springboard through partnership with the VP of Development.
- Act as Springboard’s primary spokesperson and trusted advisor on communications when necessary.
- Drive internal clarity and consensus by helping teams express complex work in accessible, human language.
- Manage and mentor a Communications Associate, providing feedback and professional development.
- Manage the Communications budget, setting goals and KPIs, and deliver against them with rigor and accountability.
- Oversee Springboard’s digital presence and social media channels, evaluating performance and implementing campaigns.
- Cultivate and maintain media relationships with national and local outlets and influencers to secure coverage.
We’re seeking a sharp writer and critical thinker with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience, including progressive leadership positions, 5+ years managing teams, and experience in the startup ecosystem.
The ideal candidate- Excels as a strategist with success in marketing strategies, media campaigns, and public relations.
- Solves problems through ownership and innovation, translating complex ideas into clear messages.
- Mastered the art of relationship building across diverse stakeholders.
- Brings operational leadership, including budgeting and project management.
- Uses data analytics and reports to drive compelling storytelling.
$150,000 + benefits. Full‑time employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, 17 days of PTO, and additional time off for office closures and federal holidays.
