Department Summary

The MITRE Intelligence Center is seeking a Department Manager (DM) for its Technical Intelligence & Integration Department located in McLean, VA. The department operates within MITRE’s Intelligence Center providing unique insights and solutions for the most challenging intelligence-related science and technology problems facing the Department of War. The Technical Intelligence & Integration Department’s focus is to fuse intelligence expertise together with data-driven, multi-disciplinary engineering techniques and analysis, focused on science and technology futures, intelligence aspects of the space domain and modeling and simulation.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing an organization, a record of engagement at senior levels of the government, and the ability to operate and interact effectively in a large, complex, matrixed, and dynamic organizational context. They will have demonstrated outstanding and timely results in leading projects that have significant enterprise-wide impact, while building trusted relationships and exemplifying MITRE’s values and professionalism.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a core member of the division leadership team, working to implement division and department strategies and furthering sponsor outcomes.
  • Proactively develop and enable a department workforce with the expertise and capabilities needed to execute solutions and meet mission.
  • Develop, build, and nurture department staff. Identify and address potential gaps and build development plans for critical capability areas.
  • Engage across MITRE to ensure delivery of the highest quality technical approaches and talent to the work program. Partner with and leverage the MITRE Labs and program divisions for needed technical talent and expertise.
  • Staff projects within the department with the right talent. Assist project leaders in the selection and assignment of staff.
  • Monitor execution of assigned projects and ensure delivery objectives are met. Ensure deliverables are accurate, focused, timely, and meet expectations.
  • Develop and execute technical quality reviews to ensure the production of high technical quality products.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop staff within the department to set and achieve career goals. Objectively evaluate individual contributions, provide feedback, reward, and recognize staff as appropriate.
  • Manage technical quality and oversee all aspects of program management, to include regular coordination with MITRE executive leadership on risk topics, if appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 10 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more technical fields including: space systems analysis, counter space capabilities, science and technology investment, modeling and simulation, cyber operations, strategic technical analysis and systems engineering.
