We have an exciting new opportunity for a Building Engineer on the night shift to support our client, Capital One's facility in McLean, VA.
In this role, you will maintain and monitor critical building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety) during overnight hours, responding to emergencies, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring optimal facility operations through Building Management System oversight.
Here is some of what you will do as a Building Engineer:
- Install, maintain, repair, and operate mechanical, electrical, and power generation equipment and systems to support critical environments while ensuring safe, efficient operations per government regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures
- Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance including predictive, planned, routine maintenance, equipment rounds, and service requests following the JLL Preventative Maintenance Program, while assisting with program development and improvement
- Operate and maintain building control systems including electrical, UPS, refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, pumps, valves, and filtration equipment, utilizing on-the-job training, operations manuals, and documentation
- Inspect and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, valves, and motors, performing visual and operational inspections while interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job standards
- Maintain mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems for facilities to keep all systems up to applicable standards and regulatory requirements
- Complete tenant service requests accurately and expediently, evaluate building systems performance, and maintain responsibility for tenant services, purchasing, and inventory control
- Establish work procedures and recommend improvements to meet production schedules, enhance equipment performance, analyze work problems, and maintain time and production records
- Participate in emergency response procedures and safety training programs while maintaining flexibility to work within changing responsibilities and procedural constraints to minimize human error risk
Here is who should apply:
- A high school diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in the building maintenance industry and an accredited trade school degree in HVAC, electronics, or other industry-related trade. Union training and certification are also acceptable
- A Universal CFC certification is preferred
- You should be knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of the following tools: ladders, lifts, basic hand tools, volt meter, manual drain auger, plumbers helper, safety goggles, ear protection, and fire extinguisher
- Communication Skills - Read technical documents (safety rules, manuals, procedures), write reports and correspondence effectively
- Mathematical Proficiency - Calculate load balancing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
- Problem-Solving Ability - Analyze practical problems with multiple variables and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats

Tuesday - Saturday 7:30 p.m.
- 6 a.m.
Pay $30-35 hourly
