Description:
Northwest UAV builds small, specialized engines for specific unmanned systems applications. The Engineering Technician III assists the lead engineers with a variety of tasks, including executing design projects from request to product release, providing diagnostic and maintenance support as well as test and project analysis. Requiring exceptional analytical skills, an eye for detail and the ability to act decisively, this role will assist in ensuring builds and are performed to the satisfaction of the company’s AS9100 classification.
- Interface with engineering personnel as directed in the development and testing phases of engineering projects.
- Lead other Engineering Technicians with product development.
- Develop and refine new products as requested.
- Interface with Test & Development personnel to identify and analyze problems encountered in prototype development and testing. Provide creative technically feasible solutions.
- Provide customers with onsite assistance in the integration of NWUAV products into the customer’s overall design.
- Expert knowledge of all resource materials, including build manuals, parts books and drawings, and use these resources effectively to address any and all technical issues.
- Perform all tasks in accordance with the printed procedures.
- Expert ability to successfully troubleshoot malfunctions, determining root causes and documenting all corrective actions.
- Ability to identify concerns and resolve complex questions or problems within the department.
- Ensure all work is performed safely, professionally and on schedule.
- Assist or train other Engineering Technicians as required.
- Establish and maintain engineering processes in accordance with established standards including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Complete all necessary documentation related to the current work order.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager or owner of NWUAV.
- 5+ Years of engine prototyping/repair/assembly experience required.
- Experience with prototyping, assembling, disassembling, installing and removing machine components with various machine systems.
- Experience working to AS9100 standards is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Solidworks or similar 3D CAD, and any other necessary software programs.
- An able communicator with excellent written and spoken communication skills is a must.
- Ability to work well with people at all levels within the company as well as customers and vendors.
- Safely lift and carry heavy objects with the help of another person if necessary.
- Ability to work well independently and following strict adherence to deadlines.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout the day alternating sitting and standing as necessary.
- Must be able to visually inspect assemblies to ensure accuracy.
- Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting and stooping.
- Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects.
- Ability to communicate clearly and be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, customers and vendors.
