Join Akumin® as a Patient Coordinator. In this role you will perform a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience, maintain accurate documentation, and explain procedures and expectations to patients.

• Greet patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous.rename.
• Collect monies for time‑of‑service patient responsibility.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• Assist preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
• Transport patients to/from the exam room and assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provide patients with preliminary and post‑procedure instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized and properly stocked mobile unit or work area.
• Prepare, schedule and update patient records and appointments; verify insurance and obtain authorizations.
• Prepare and deliver medical records, images and documentation to patients, physicians or contracted customers.
• Perform all duties in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
• COVID‑19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• All candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.

• Six months of customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients on a mobile unit, strong magnetic fields or radioactive material, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, environmental hazards, and noise. Must be able to:

• Sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements of hands, arms and legs.
• See, speak and hear to communicate with patients.
• Stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer to the exam).
