McPherson County Public Works is seeking a full‑time County Design/Project Engineer. Applicants must be recent graduates from an accredited college or university, preferably holding an EIT or capable of obtaining FE certification within six months. The candidate will assist in designing all county engineering projects, including roads, bridges, and drainage structures, under the direction of the Project Engineer or Director. Upon employment, the successful applicant will become a Bridge Inspection Team Leader and receive KDOT inspection and materials testing certifications.
Training will be provided in AutoDesC Civil 3D, AASHTOWare Bridge Loading software, Microstation, and other design programs. Responsibilities include problem‑solving county road and bridge maintenance and construction issues, and assisting in the operation of the county’s asphalt plant. Beginning annual salary ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 (DOQ) with two pay increases within the first year, and a structured salary increase after passing the PE exam.
