Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is a professional-level position responsible for supporting and administering a broad range of human resources functions within a hospital environment. This role partners closely with leadership and employees to ensure effective HR operations, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience. The HR Generalist is actively involved in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll support, leave management, and policy implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits and retirement programs, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
  • Support talent acquisition and recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and hiring documentation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Track and administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave programs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and supervisors on HR-related matters, including leaves of absence, compensation, policies, and employee relations concerns.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Support payroll processes by ensuring accurate employee data, timekeeping coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Assist auditors with HR-related audits and compile required documentation and reports, including OSHA and Workers’ Compensation reporting.
  • Participate in and support various hospital committees as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and records in both electronic and paper formats.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Human Resources department and hospital operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, in a healthcare or hospital setting helpful.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, OSHA, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
