Float Cook Job Summary

The Float Cook assists and learns the job roles of the Breakfast, AM, and PM Cook and the AM clerk. Acts as a substitute for these positions to assist the other kitchen staff and ensure an organized and well-functioning work environment. Other duties as assigned.

• Reviews menus for Meals-On-Wheels and hospital meals to prepare and organize services in a timely manner.
• Monitors adjustments in patient dietary information to update current records and adjust services accordingly.
• Coordinates and assists other kitchen staff with meal preparation, serving, and distribution for the Hospital and Meals-On-Wheels to support and ensure a productive work environment.
• Operates and monitors kitchen appliances to maintain temperature, environment, and food storage safety and prevent food waste.
• Executes and maintains a clean workspace to ensure a food safe environment.
• Assists in organizing and arranging delivered goods to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
• Works well under pressure and can multitask, abilities to switch tasks at a short notice.

• Works well in a team setting.
• Abilities to perform using basic math skills.
• Implements effective communication skills.

Education/Licensure/

Certifications:

• Some High schooling; must be at least 16 years of age, 18+ to operate kitchen equipment.

Experience:

• Food service preferred, but not required.
