Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Kernodle Clinic
Full‑time position located at the Mebane Kernodle Clinic in Burlington, NC. The role supports our Gastroenterology Department and requires a patient‑focused Medical Assistant who can work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities- Takes medical histories and records vital signs, explains treatment procedures to patients, and prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
- Plans, provides, and documents professional medical assisting care utilizing the medical assisting process, in accordance with physician/APP orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the department manager.
- Promptly and accurately completes initial assessment including taking/recording weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pain assessment; asks chief complaint for visit, updates allergies and medications in EPIC, notes abnormal conditions, and communicates appropriately.
- Concisely documents all patient‑related calls, orders, and transactions in the medical record.
- When providing direct patient care, including patient‑related telephone conversations, employees use double identifiers to ensure the right patient every time.
- Other clinical support responsibilities include disposing of contaminated supplies, instrument processing, high‑level disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments, telephoning prescriptions to a pharmacy, preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician, and authorizing drug refills as directed.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program.
- Current CMA certification (preferably AAMA or AMT).
- BLS certification (preferably AHA).
- EPIC experience is a plus; prior experience in gastroenterology is preferred but not required.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (full‑time).
