1st Shift Grinder

Burlington, NC

Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. Fridays are often used to catch up on work and may be mandatory. If so, a 48‑hour notice will be given, but a shorter notice may be given for volunteer work hours. The schedule varies on Friday.

Work with electric and pneumatic hand tools to de‑burr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts and prepare parts for paint per company workmanship standards.

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures
• Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts
• Inspect parts for visible defects and segregate
• Remove the access material from weldments
• Responsible for inspection of grinding machines, stones and blades to ensure proper condition
• Responsible for reporting any deviations in equipment and product
• Read and follow all related work instructions, such as shop orders, process sheets and grinding instructions
• Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for area
• Clean work station on a daily basis
• Maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
• Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task, and follow safety practices
• Assist in other areas as needed

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 2 years experience working with finishing tools in a production environment
• Should have metal or wood finishing experience
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Basic computer skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions

• Humidity level may be elevated during summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times

• Able to stand on your feet for at least ten hours a day
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs.
• This is a 40 hour per week job with the potential for overtime
