Job SummaryThe Electrophysiology Technologist functions as a scrub tech, circulator, and/or monitors patients for electrophysiology procedures under the direction of a cardiologist. The role analyzes and interprets procedural data, provides effective patient care at all acuity levels, assists in precepting new employees and students, maintains inventory, charges appropriately for procedures, performs all procedures per protocol, and participates in quality assurance and performance improvement programs as requested.
Equitable participation in call coverage is required if applicable to the site.
- Demonstrate general competency in providing age‑appropriate care, planning, providing, and evaluating care based on physiological, psychosocial, intellectual, and safety developmental needs.
- Utilize appropriate processes and documentation in accordance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
- Provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Function in all roles of the electrophysiology laboratory (scrub, monitor, and circulate).
- Act as a qualified team member in the administration of moderate sedation under direct supervision of the physician where applicable.
- Completion of a Cardiovascular Technology program (preferred).
- BLS Basic Life Support, ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire; must be obtained prior to direct patient care. ACLS or PALS required based on specialty assignment).
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with experience in Electrophysiology (required).
