Position DetailsThis is a hybrid position. The main location is the Richmond School of Nursing on Magellan Parkway with travel once or twice a week to Southside School of Nursing.
Hours:
Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm.
The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for assisting the director in providing counseling and wellness services, including counseling services, crisis intervention, mental health outreach and prevention programs, and a variety of wellness activities, programs, and services designed to meet the needs of the student population.
Essential Job Functions- Assist Director with maintaining the Counseling and Wellness functions at the College/schools.
- Develop and provide individual and group supportive counseling services for students.
- Develop and implement prevention and wellness outreach and educational programs and materials for students, and educate faculty and staff on identifying and referring mental health issues.
- Develop emergency mental health protocols and serve as mental health expert on teams and committees.
- Serve as liaison with Bon Secours Mercy Health’s Employee Assistance Program and community mental health agencies, maintaining a referral listing of area agencies.
- Coordinate mental health and wellness activities with other campus outreach programs.
- Maintain secure, accurate record‑keeping in accordance with state and federal laws and professional ethics.
- Select, supervise, and evaluate all counseling and wellness staff, including graduate interns.
- Develop and manage the Counseling and Wellness budget.
- OHIO‑LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor), or LISW (Licensed Independent Social Worker) – required.
- VIRGINIA‑LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) – required.
Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work – required.
Work Experience- 2–4 years of experience, preferably in a college counseling or wellness center or similar environment – required.
- Preferred experience with sexual violence/assault support and substance abuse.
