Configuration Manager

Overview

This position plays a critical role in maintaining a reliable Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, dependable IT service delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing Azure resources and integrating them with a third-party CMDB, particularly Ivanti Neurons for ITSM.

• Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management policies and processes aligned with ITIL standards and Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) policies
• Own and manage the CMDB, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Collaborate with Change, Incident, Problem, Asset, and Fin Ops teams to support seamless service delivery
• Define and enforce standards for Configuration Item (CI) identification, classification, control, and reporting
• Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Security, and Application teams to collect and maintain CI data
• Monitor, audit, and validate configuration data to ensure quality and reliability
• Establish, track, and report KPIs and metrics to measure CMDB health and configuration management maturity
• Provide leadership and guidance to IT teams on configuration management best practices
• Support IT governance, risk, compliance, and audit initiatives
• Drive continuous improvement across ITSM processes and services

• ITIL Foundation certification (Intermediate or Expert level preferred)
• Proven experience in Configuration Management within an ITIL-based ITSM environment
• Hands-on experience managing Configuration Management in Azure environments
• Strong knowledge of Ivanti Neurons for ITSM, including CMDB administration
• Solid understanding of ITIL v3/v4 processes, particularly:
• Configuration Management
• Change Management
• Incident Management
• Problem Management
• Experience with CI class modeling, discovery tools, and CMDB integrations
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams

• Experience designing and implementing Configuration Management policies, systems, and monitoring programs for enterprise environments. (Required) — 8 years
• Familiarity with implementing a CMDB with a specific emphasis on integrating Azure resources to support Change and Fin Ops activities. (Required) — 8 years
• Strong knowledge of Ivanti Neurons for ITSM CMDB capabilities (Required) — 2 years
• ITIL Foundation Certification (Required)
• ITIL intermediate/expert level certification (Highly desired)
• Knowledge of COV policies and standards (Desired)
