Electric Power Generation; Epg Field Technician

Overview

We are currently offering up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus for experienced EPG Field Technician new hires.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Field Technician in Richmond, Virginia. The EPG Field Service Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing complex operational failures to electrical generator systems and related basic engine failures at customer sites.

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex failures on electrical generator systems and related equipment at customer sites.

Minimum of three years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex issues and performing heavy electrical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment. Must have experience performing megger and vibration testing and genset alignment. Must have experience installing and commissioning gensets. High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum of three years relevant Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience required to be eligible for the $10,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates with less than 3 years of Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Bonuses are made in 2 equal installments at 90 days and 180 days of employment.

• Must be proficient in the use of technical software, databases and manuals.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
