Job Title:Equipment Reliability Specialist
Location:
Richmond, Virginia;
Manassas, Virginia;
Elkridge, Maryland;
Salem, Virginia
Starting Compensation Range: $73,000 - $95,000 per year
What You Will Do- Serve as primary point of contact for reported equipment damage from packagers in the field
- Diagnose and document cause of equipment damage or failure (e.g., defect, misuse, wear and tear, shipping damage), applying technical knowledge of generators and related equipment
- Coordinate with local CAT dealers and other equipment suppliers to assess damage, obtain repair estimates, and schedule service
- Evaluate dealer/supplier diagnoses and repair recommendations to validate root cause and scope of repair
- Determine warranty eligibility and manage warranty claims with manufacturers or dealers as appropriate
- Track repair and claim status from intake through resolution, keeping stakeholders updated on timelines
- Maintain accurate records of equipment damage incidents, root causes, repair costs, and warranty recoveries
- Analyze recurring damage patterns or problem equipment/suppliers and recommend reliability improvements to Supply Chain Operations Manager
- Negotiate with dealers/suppliers on repair costs, turnaround times, and terms
- Coordinate equipment replacement when needed to keep projects on schedule
- Drive process improvements to reduce equipment damage, extend equipment life, and streamline repair/claims workflows
- Collaborate with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum two years of experience in equipment service/maintenance, supply chain, fleet management, or a related technical field
- Previous experience in supply chain or procurement
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, but not required
- Prior hands‑on service or maintenance experience with power generation or similar power/heavy equipment required
- Familiarity with CAT (or comparable) dealer networks and warranty processes strongly preferred
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to determine root cause of equipment issues - Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with dealers, suppliers, and internal field teams
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple open cases/claims simultaneously
- Proficiency with supply chain or asset management software, and Microsoft Office/Excel
- Strong PC skills and the ability to self‑develop and adapt to changing technology
