Plasma Center Nurse - BSN/LPN - Bilingual preferred Spanish/Portuguese
Base pay range: $28.85/hr - $39.66/hr.
Location:
Medford, MA, USA.
You will support plasma center operations as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), reporting to the Plasma Center Manager and working under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will also provide center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS) and follow regulations of the plasma collection industry.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for any findings that require medical or technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation required by occupational health or ER. Refer incidents to EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑level recognized nursing program meeting state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfilling state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
