Seasonal Activity Specialist – Art & Cabin Counselor

The Art Specialist & Cabin Counselor leads and lives with a cabin of up to 7 campers, planning and conducting various art programs in large and small group settings. Activities include General Arts & Crafts, Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, Jewelry Making, Music, Drama, and Dance. The position is safety-sensitive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction, supervision, and safety for all campers in the program area and cabins.
  • Create, plan, and implement age-appropriate art lesson plans.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available.
  • Assist campers with achieving their goals.
  • Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day, including but not limited to camper check-in/out, mealtimes, activities, and before/after-hours duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in All Staff Training.
  • Maintain safety, equipment care, inventory, skill instruction, and progressive age-appropriate programming.
  • Identify age and grade level characteristics of campers.
Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Previous camp experience or experience working with groups of children is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and instruct a group of campers in art programming.
  • Knowledge of safety, care of equipment, inventory, and progressive programming.
  • Training and certification will be provided during All Staff Training.
  • YMCA Membership is desired.
