The Assistant Counselor position supports the supervision of campers in a small group setting under the Head Counselor.

• Assist the Head Counselor with general safety and supervision of campers in the assigned group.
• Support Activity Directors during activity periods as needed.
• Work with a different age group each week to gain experience with a variety of camper ages and staff.
• Supervise and participate in all aspects of the campers’ day (check‑in/check‑out, meals, activities, extended AM/PM duties as assigned).
• Attend and participate in one week of General Staff Training.

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Knowledge of child supervision and safety.
• Leadership skills to encourage and motivate campers.
• Preferred ability to teach songs, games, stories, sports and related skills.
• Enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility and maturity.
• Working papers required; can be obtained at any high school main office. New Jersey Department of Labor requires a half‑hour break daily.
