Description Concern Housing is seeking an ADL Counselor to be responsible for providing life skills training services directly to clients and is considered a resource in that they should be familiar with the skills and tasks necessary to help consumers learn self reliance skills. The primary task is to provide hands on assistance to clients to help them to develop the skills necessary to maintain independence in the supported housing program.
OverviewConcern Housing is seeking an ADL Counselor to provide life skills training services directly to clients in the supported housing program. The role involves hands-on assistance to help clients develop the skills necessary to maintain independence and self-reliance.
Responsibilities- Adherence to all policies as set forth in Concern’s personnel manual.
- Provide education and skill-building across activities of daily living including but not limited to: maintaining personal hygiene, maintenance of the living environment, laundering of clothing, travel training, money management, food preparation, nutrition, shopping, basic self-preservation skills, communication skills, community integration, and wellness self-management.
- Provide individual counseling and support services related to life skills development.
- Work as an integral part of the case management team. Maintain open communication with the case manager regarding skill assessment and goal planning activities.
- Develop training tools and techniques in coordination with the case manager to address identified client needs.
- Maintain all documentation pertaining to visits and activities in accordance with agency policy.
- Conduct site visits as needed and directed by Supervisor.
- Attend weekly supervision and staff meetings.
- Remain current with all agency-required compliance documents and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Three years experience working in a similar setting and/or working with people with mental illness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social Work or other related mental health discipline preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to make sound judgments regarding client care.
Salary: $45,000
