Bring complex public infrastructure projects from plan set to pavement. The City of Medford’s Construction Manager leads contract administration, construction engineering, and inspection for capital improvement projects and developer-initiated work in the public right-of-way, with direct oversight of construction inspector staff and close partnership with the Deputy City Engineer/Design Section Manager.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys balancing field realities with contract compliance, schedule, and budget. You will oversee construction stages, coordinate inspection services, and help ensure projects are delivered within budgetary, regulatory, and time constraints, while working with internal teams and external partners such as ODOT, franchised utilities, and the development community. RequiredEducation and Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible construction management, design management or a closely related field with two (2) of those years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- One (1) year of work experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or other specified area of study as deemed applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Oregon.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
- 8 hours daily, Monday – Friday
This position is part of the Non-Represented employee group.
The anticipated hiring range for the Construction Manager position is $47.27 (first step) to $49.64 or $52.12 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
