This position is open until filled with a first review date scheduled for Monday, November 17th. As a Swim Teacher at Rogue X, you'll lead engaging group lessons and focused private sessions for swimmers of all ages using the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim curriculum.

- Must be 15 years or older at time of hire; and
- Graduated from High School or GED equivalent; or currently enrolled in High School or equivalent and on track for graduation; and
- Pass swim test prior to hire; and
- Obtain first aid and CPR certification within one year of hire; and
- Obtain the Red Cross Basic Swim Instructor certification within one year of hire.
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
- Experience working with children in a teaching, mentoring, or coaching role.
- Rogue X offers lessons Monday through Thursday with sessions from 9:00 a.m.
- 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. Private lessons can be scheduled outside these times if a Swim Teacher is available.
- Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) retirement contributions paid by employer for part-time, year-round positions.
- Paid sick leave - one (1) hour accrued for every 30 hours worked.

- Instructs students of varying skill levels in swimming techniques, including proper strokes and essential water safety rules.
- Plans and delivers swimming lessons that align with prescribed rubrics and accommodate individual student abilities and developmental progress.
- Creates a safe, educational, and welcoming environment through a balanced approach of demonstration, explanation, guided practice, and skill correction.
- Identifies and corrects improper techniques to support student improvement and mastery.
- Monitors student progress, evaluates techniques, and adjusts instruction; accordingly, completes advancement evaluations and certificates as appropriate.
- Provides guidance to experienced swimmers seeking to enhance their technique and performance.
- Supports an inclusive learning environment and adapts instruction for participants with special needs.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues regarding lesson plans and student progression.
- Delivers courteous and professional customer service to all patrons.
- Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality, arriving fully prepared for all scheduled classes.
- Upholds and adheres to all Medford Parks, Recreation & Facilities policies and procedures.
- Instructs students of varying skill levels in swimming techniques, including proper strokes and essential water safety rules.
- Plans and delivers swimming lessons that align with prescribed rubrics and accommodate individual student abilities and developmental progress.
- Enforces safety regulations and all other department policies and procedures in a professional, friendly manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the department and organizational goals.
