Please Note: Willing to accept a Histotechnician Trainee or a Certified Histotechnician or a Certified Histotechnologist
. Salary is based on years of relevant experience. Plus, you may earn extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours.

Performs all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis.

Applicants must have one of the following:

• At least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both); OR
• An Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both)

PLEASE NOTE: After obtaining one year of work experience in the histology lab the successful applicant will need to pass the semiannual ASCP certification exam and receive either a HT or HTL certification. Certification must be obtained within two years of hire date. Upon certification incumbent will be eligible to promote to the certified job.

Our Histology department processes a wide variety of specimens. In addition to routine histology we perform IHC and special stains. The Histotechnician should possess sound organizational skills that support accuracy & attention to detail under stressful, high‑paced work conditions. Also, they should encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co‑workers & other departments and display collaborative effort to maximize efficiency in daily workflow.

As a Histotechnician you will have the opportunity to perform all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis by the Pathologist.

Experience

• Hospital histology experience, preferred
• Immunohistochemistry experience, preferred

Education

• Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or equivalent in education and/or experience required
• Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Histological Technician program - OR - Exam Eligible (having education/experience demonstrating qualifications to take and successfully complete the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam) is required
• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, preferred

Licensure/Certification s

• HT:
  Histotechnician registered by Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required within 6 months of hire

A histotechnologist performs all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis by pathologist.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution is required

Certification/Licensure

• Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Histological Technician program - OR - Exam Eligible (having education/experience demonstrating qualifications to take and successfully complete the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam) is required
• HTL:
  Histotechnologist certification within 6 months of hire is required
