Senior Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Medford, Oregon
Employment type: Full Time
Schedule: Evening Shift
Responsibilities- Perform decontamination, assembly, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory, tracking, and documentation of all sterilized equipment.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and serviceability before distribution.
- Operate and maintain sterilizers, washers, and other department equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to all infection prevention and control standards.
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure timely delivery of instruments and supplies.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and federal sterilization standards and policies.
- Train and mentor new sterile processing staff as needed.
- Certification (must have one of the following upon hire):
- National Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
- National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
- National Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
- Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of recent sterile processing experience. - Technical
Skills:
Proficient in the use of personal computers and basic software applications (MS Office, inventory systems, etc.). - Education:
Bachelor's degree required. - Other Requirements:
Must maintain active certification and compliance with continuing education requirements.
- Experience in a hospital or large healthcare facility setting.
- Advanced knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Onsite position requiring regular handling of sterile and non-sterile equipment.
- Requires adherence to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety protocols.
- May involve lifting, standing for extended periods, and working variable shifts.
