Senior Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Medford, Oregon

Employment type: Full Time

Schedule: Evening Shift

Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination, assembly, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, tracking, and documentation of all sterilized equipment.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and serviceability before distribution.
  • Operate and maintain sterilizers, washers, and other department equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to all infection prevention and control standards.
  • Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure timely delivery of instruments and supplies.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and federal sterilization standards and policies.
  • Train and mentor new sterile processing staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Certification (must have one of the following upon hire):
  • National Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
  • National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • National Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3 years of recent sterile processing experience.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficient in the use of personal computers and basic software applications (MS Office, inventory systems, etc.).
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree required.
  • Other Requirements:
    Must maintain active certification and compliance with continuing education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a hospital or large healthcare facility setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Work Conditions
  • Onsite position requiring regular handling of sterile and non-sterile equipment.
  • Requires adherence to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety protocols.
  • May involve lifting, standing for extended periods, and working variable shifts.
