Phlebotomist – Full Time | Hourly

The Lab Technician performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Accountabilities Include
  • Obtains and prepares patient samples for analysis.
  • Maintains an accurate, readable record log of all laboratory orders and functions for in-house and outside laboratories.
  • Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood and urine to determine presence of normal and abnormal components, slide preparation, use of the centrifuge and other laboratory skills.
  • Interacts and collaborates with each Care Team to facilitate smooth patient flow.
  • Reports test results to providers in a timely manner.
  • Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Documents all pertinent patient data and actions taken in the patient record in a concise, accurate and legible fashion.
  • Manages clinic lab pool in‑basket and follow‑up in a timely manner.
  • Works with patients on outstanding lab orders and assists in removing barriers to obtaining lab services.
  • Maintains records and documentation for procedure competency and to meet CLIA requirements and regulations.
  • Orders and manages laboratory inventory and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma (minimum)
  • Lab Technician Certification
  • BLS Health Care Provider (First Aid/CPR)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise and positive outcomes in difficult interactions
  • Skilled at using electronic health records as applicable to area of work (EPIC)
Preferred
  • Associate's degree in related field
  • Three to five years of experience in related medical field
  • Basic knowledge of adult learning models
