Southern Oregon ESD is seeking an Oregon‑licensed General Supervising Electrician, who is able to perform skilled electrical work as well as plan, assign, coordinate, and oversee the work of journey‑level staff and outside contractors. The employee chosen for this position will be responsible for electrical and limited energy wiring at SOESD and over 100 buildings in thirteen school districts in Southern Oregon.
Duties include installing, maintaining, and repairing extended branch circuits, intercom systems, network cabling, security cameras, audiovisual equipment, and other electrical and limited energy systems and equipment. The Electrician ensures electrical work performed at SOESD is in accordance with standard trade practices and compliance with state and local regulations.
Southern Oregon ESD has locations in the Rogue Valley, Grants Pass, and Klamath Falls.
The Rogue Valley is the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon, home to legendary snow‑skiing, white‑water rafting, kayaking, hiking, and fishing, as well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries, the Britt Music Festival, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

POSITION GOAL: Perform skilled duties in the design, maintenance, repair, and installation of various school building low voltage and electrical systems and equipment, including intercom, sound, security, surveillance, network, television, and projection. Perform new electrical installations or extend existing power circuits. Assist with in‑shop repairs of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.
Essential Functions- Perform skilled design, installation, and repair of electrical and low‑voltage wiring, systems, and equipment.
- Perform and oversee at a journeyman level electrical and low voltage installations and subsequent inspections, as authorized by the State of Oregon Building Codes Agency and in compliance with all regulating agencies.
- Consult with school district personnel regarding various low‑voltage and electrical wiring, systems, and equipment.
- Assist with design, specification, and estimation of various types of low‑voltage and electrical wiring, systems, and equipment.
- Perform in‑shop repairs of electronic and electrical equipment.
- Assist with the evaluation of various new products and tools as they relate to the job.
- Receive and complete work orders, including pricing, estimation, billing, and documentation of associated job information and work performed.
- Ensure guidelines are followed for accountability of service, maintenance, and inventory of vehicles.
- Assist in the training of other personnel in the department.
- Obtain necessary permits from local jurisdictions.
- Provide impeccable customer service.
- Use professional communication and conduct.
- Participate collaboratively as an effective team member within and between departments and other organizations.
- Work cooperatively with other trades during remodel and construction.
- Establish and maintain high‑trust regional relationships.
- Comply with local district and ESD rules, policies, and procedures.
