Position: Full-Time Complexity Educational Assistants- Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School
Position Summary  Medicine Hat Public School Division is recruiting two Educational Assistants to serve as permanent members of the Complexity Team for Dr. Ken Sauer School. Positions are full-time (30 hours per week). The Complexity Team supports K‑6 students facing academic, behavioural, social and emotional challenges, including executive functioning development, academic goal attainment and English language learning progress.
Responsibilities   Provide flexible in‑class and small‑group supports to help students access learning.
Support implementation of individual support and behaviour plans.
Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and learning team.
Support positive behaviour and regulation support practices.
Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.).
Build strong relationships with students and demonstrate a strong belief in an inclusive school setting.
Work as part of a team, take direction and follow programming design.
Qualifications and Attributes   Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
Education or experience in child and youth care counselling or social work considered an asset.
Experience working with students with diverse needs would be an asset.
Understanding of childhood development, the escalation cycle and executive functioning skills preferred.
Enthusiastic and motivated to help all students succeed.
Experience working with students in a school setting is important.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial.
