ABOUT THE POSITION:We are seeking applications to join our team of substitute teachers across our division, for all locations, grades and subjects!

ABOUT GRASSLANDS PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Grasslands is a public school division serving the City of Brooks and surrounding County of Newell, with a student population of about 3,577. We have three elementary school locations within the City of Brooks and seven rural locations throughout the County of Newell in addition to seven colony school locations.

• Provide a stimulating learning environment and deliver course material that enables each student to experience growth and develop to their full potential.
• Foster an educational environment grounded in the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Identify individual and collective student learning needs appropriate to their age and grade level.
• Plan and deliver approved curriculum in accordance with student learning needs, including those with special needs.
• Provide direct support and/or intervention as required to maximize student achievement and well-being.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary student services team to discuss individual student needs and progress.
• Ensure recommended personalized student resources and supports are implemented effectively to maximize student achievement and well-being.
• Provide guidance to student support staff to help them understand and respond to individual student strengths and needs.
• Use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate and communicate student progress.
• Meet with parents or guardians to discuss students’ learning progress.
• Supervise extracurricular and after-school activities as required.
• Attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
• Serve as a positive role model for students.

• Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools' mission and values
• Demonstrated confidence, skills, and knowledge in differentiated instruction, student engagement, and assessment practices
• Respect for all individuals, with sensitivity to diversity and the ability to create an inclusive classroom environment
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Personal integrity and trustworthiness
• Understanding of the impact educators have on our community
• Ability to quickly build trust, rapport, and strong relationships with Grasslands students, parents, staff, and community partners

• Bachelor of Education

Pre-service teacher preparation program from an approved institution

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certification

Candidates of choice must submit for review:

• Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
• Must be the original document issued within the last six months
