As an Underwriter, you will work closely with other underwriters and agency advisors, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines, procedures, and regulations, while balancing members’ needs with business objectives to support profitable growth and underwriting excellence.

- Report to the Director of Underwriting Operations.
- Verify policy transactions, make necessary adjustments promptly, and communicate effectively to agency and members.
- Identify and obtain additional information needed for comprehensive risk analysis.
- Apply sound judgment and reasoning to make informed risk selection decisions.
- Review claims and take appropriate underwriting action.
- Deliver service that supports the TYLF (Treat You Like Friends & Family) culture while ensuring underwriting integrity.
- Handle exceptional situations by actively listening to members and finding appropriate solutions.
- Deliver innovative, forward-thinking solutions and coverage.
- Identify gaps in coverage and provide recommendations where suitable.
- Articulate decision‑making reasoning to advisors for effective communication with members.
- Communicate decisions in an empathetic, professional manner.
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Agency, and other internal departments to improve relations and achieve common goals.
- Provide prompt, consistent, exceptional service.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries confidently.
- Grade 12 diploma.
- 3–5 years’ experience in an insurance role.
- Working towards a CIP designation is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related post‑secondary education is an asset.
