Graduate Registered Nurse Emergency Program

As a Registered Nurse in Alberta Health Services’ Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program, you will provide nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations. The 12-month program includes enhanced orientation with an experienced Clinical Guide, followed by independent practice with mentor support. Practice occurs in the Emergency unit at Bow Island Health Centre.

• Provide safe, quality patient and family centered nursing care
• Use nursing processes, critical thinking, and problem solving
• Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and families
• Support integrated, holistic care and health promotion
• Complete a personalized learning plan with guidance

• Graduate from an accredited nursing education program
• Graduate within twelve months before program start
• Active or eligible College of Registered Nurses of Alberta registration
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• No regular position with a Provincial Health Entity
