Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.

You will help ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through adherence to SOPs, best practices, and effective communication. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.

Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to the State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager until requirements are completed.

Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care across pick-up, drive-thru, and phone interactions; offering immunizations and other services; and addressing patient concerns
  • Completing basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership (e.g., putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories)
  • Contributing to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
  • Staying flexible for scheduling and business needs; traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
  • Understanding and complying with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy
  • Delivering additional patient health care services where allowable by law and supported by training and certification
Immunization Support (where permissible)
  • Complete licensure/training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
  • Monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy (including age, education, licensure/certification)
  • If minimum age or education requirements are not mandated by the state board, must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
