We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Wound Nurse to join our team. In this important role, you will provide specialized care to residents with wounds, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and healing. Qualifications- Current and valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment
- Experience in wound care and long-term care (preferred)
- Strong documentation, assessment, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Obtain and update physician orders for wound care treatments
- Administer treatments and monitor healing progress
- Document wound status weekly (stage, size, depth, color, drainage, odor, resident response)
- Observe and document skin condition and changes
- Notify residents, families, physicians, and team members of changes
- Review and revise care plans as needed
- Participate in care planning meetings and MDS updates
- Report wound status to the Director of Nursing
- Provide wound care education and in-service training to staff
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards
- Maintain care within budgetary guidelines
- Participate in State Department of Health inspections and facility committees
- Complete management reports and special assignments as directed
- Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and dependability in all aspects of care
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other departments
- Provide care in accordance with nursing standards, regulations, and facility policies
- Uphold resident rights and dignity
- Participate in Risk Management and interdisciplinary meetings
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and perform treatments
- Visual and auditory acuity to assess conditions and respond to emergencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment
