Pet Smart does Anything for Pets and Everything for You. Pet Groomer Trainee position is part of our grooming team and involves learning through training to perform grooming services and support store operations.

• Under supervision, perform a full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and related services in accordance with Pet Smart’s standards.
• Develop and display safe technical grooming skills that meet or exceed company expectations.
• Recommend additional health and wellness solutions to pet parents based on the pet’s needs.
• Greet pet parents, answer questions, assist with reservations, and maintain client records and appointment reminders.
• Execute check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments and rebooking.
• Promote salon sales and assist in achieving sales targets and productivity metrics.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise and services.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area; perform end-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklist.
• Take immediate action if a pet is sick or injured and coordinate necessary care as appropriate.
• Assist in other departments as required; participate in Belonging and Recognition culture and follow all policies and procedures.

• Successful completion of Pet Smart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program.
• Prior grooming experience preferred; may be asked to complete a technical exam.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Ability to stay composed under pressure and maintain safety standards.
• Flexibility in schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Stand, walk, and perform grooming tasks; frequent handling and use of hands; ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance; vision requirements apply.
• Exposure to a wet environment with pet hair; noise levels vary; exposure to live animals is common; reasonable accommodations available.
