Junior Cost Estimator

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Support the estimating team, construction managers, project managers, and discipline leaders in developing cost estimates for construction projects and related planning efforts.
• Review conceptual drawings, specifications, and project documentation to assist in preparing time, cost, material, and labor estimates.
• Support vendor and subcontractor estimate development, help compare proposals, and identify scope gaps or exclusions.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost documentation.
• Prepare cost and expenditure reports and track actual costs against estimates.
• Support cost monitoring procedures and help evaluate cost-effective options for materials, labor, or purchased components.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
• Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
• Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
