- Oral Surgeon Assistants perform their responsibilities as dental auxiliaries in accordance with the state Dental Practice Act. Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistants are responsible for maintaining excellent communication with our doctors and assisting them in all aspects of patient care. Our Oral Surgeon Assistants are trained to be experts in making our patients comfortable during treatment and providing an unparalleled customer experience.

Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistants will receive additional training to learn new skills. Western Dental offers programs to train new Oral Surgeon Assistants to master necessary dental and customer service skills for career growth.

Must have a current radiation safety certificate for the state in which they practice. Western Oral Surgeon Assistants take x-rays as directed by the Oral Surgeon. They are trained in dental x-ray procedures and infection control, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Oral Surgeon during patient treatments.
  • Anticipate the dentist’s needs and prepare accordingly.
  • Follow OSHA, Dental Board, and WDS policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient treatment records.
  • Take blood pressure measurements.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative instructions within the Oral Surgeon’s guidelines.
  • Offer oral hygiene instructions to patients.
  • Ensure all units and water systems are prepared before patient treatment.
  • Stock supplies and inform supervisors when reordering is needed or equipment is malfunctioning.
  • Perform sterilization duties as necessary.
  • Build rapport with patients and staff.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • State certification as an RDA (CA, AZ, NV).
  • Current X-Ray License.
  • CPR and ACLS certifications; OMSA or DAANCE preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Open availability.
