The Student Success and Support Center is seeking an Academic Support Services Adjunct Instructor to provide undergraduate academic assistance in STEM disciplines, including courses in Mathematics, Engineering, and related fields. Areas of support may include Calculus, Differential Equations, Physics, Thermodynamics, Statics, Dynamics, and other engineering coursework. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge in STEM disciplines, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering student success.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-on-one and group academic support for undergraduate students in STEM disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Mathematics (e.g., Calculus, Differential Equations)
- Engineering (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, and Thermodynamics)
- Physics (e.g. Mechanics, Electromagnetic Theory)
- Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to address diverse learning needs and enhance student understanding of course material.
- Assist students with problem-solving techniques, exam preparation, and comprehension of theoretical and practical concepts.
- Participate in periodic training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills.
Qualifications
A master’s degree in a STEM field is required and Ph.D preferred.
Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or academic support at the college level is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student population.
Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Compensation
Adjunct
Contract:
$4,500 for 16-week semester, 10 hours per week.
